Prague is the capital city and largest city of the Czech Republic, and one of the largest in Central Europe. It has served as the capital of the historic region of Bohemia for centuries. A magical city packed with bridges, cathedrals, gold-tipped towers and church domes, it’s often compared to Paris in terms of its sheer beauty. Located along the swan-filled Vltava River for more than ten centuries, and escaping almost undamaged from WWII, the city’s medieval centre is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains one of the best-preserved of its kind, home to cobbled lanes, courtyards, countless cathedrals and churches. Now a vibrant and modern city, its music and arts scenes are positively buzzing, and its nightlife even more so, all helping to make Prague the most visited city in Central Europe in recent years.

Things to Do in Prague

A visit it Prague’s Old Town is essential, just to bask in all that beautiful architecture. The Old Town is home to many historic buildings and monuments, the most famous being the Astronomical Clock (Orloj), the Gothic Tyn Church, the mural-covered Storch building, and the Jan Hus monument. Music lovers will also find the Estate Theatre where Mozart\'s opera Don Giovanni was first performed. Balance things out nicely with a visit to the New Town and you’ll find the major attraction of Wenceslas Square, packed with stalls, restaurants and shops. At one end sits the National Museum, which is another site well worth seeing. Don’t miss the colourful Jubilee Synagogue, and the area’s hip nightclubs, bars and Art Nouveau hotels, as well as lovely parks and panoramic views, especially from Henry Tower, when you’re looking for a bit of escape.
