What to do in Paros

We have hinted at the fact that in Paros there is a wide variety of things to do. However, just for order’s sake, you could start from its bigger city called Parikia. Parikia hosts slightly over twelve thousand people and owns the most important harbor in the island. We suggest, at first, a trip to the Venetian quarter, indeed a pleasing echo from the past nowadays quite alive and well. A stop at the Panagia Ekatontapiliani, literally meaning “church of the hundred doors”, is mandatory, along with its archeological museum which shows some of the finest samples of GreekByzantine art of the whole island. The next stage in our trip is Naousa bay, where a charming village built long ago makes up now for the second most populated spot in Paros. Naousa bay has some excellent restaurants located in the harbour where, at sunset, you can taste some local fish delicacies. Finally, if you want to feel free in the wildest natural landscapes, take our hint and pay homage to Lefkes, one of the most intriguing villages in the Cyclades located some eleven kilometers southeast of Parikia. Once there, you will lose any cognizance of time.

Mustsee

  • The wonderful fishermen village in Naousa Bay

  • The enchanting hamlet of Lefkes surrounded by wild nature

  • Kolympithres beach

Driving near Paros

If you have arrived in Paros you will probably be in dire need of sea! Well, there is no better place than Kolympithres to discover deserted seasides and crystalline water. Its location is only 11km northeast of Parikia, a very short trip to make with a rental car. However, you should not fail to take a visit to Pounda, just 9 km south of Parikia. Pounda is quite the surfers’ delight. However, it is a good fit for the occasional tourist as well, primarily due to its many bars and its precious sand. It is also the departure point to reach Antiparos, an island just in front of Pounda that has become the place to go for VIPs.
