Driving Around Albufeira
Most visitors to the Algarve will arrive through Faro airport, only 32 miles from the city, and car rental is available at the airport or in Albufeira itself. An attractive alternative if you want to see more of Portugal is to fly in to Lisbon and take the A2 directly to Albufeira. Located not far from the motorway, the city is an ideal base for exploring the region and the coast, and the A22 running east to west through the city will take you to Lagos on the coast in one direction, and to Faro and Ayamonte in the other.
