With so many little islands so close at hand, getting out on the water is a must. You’ll find plenty of gulet cruises and boat trips available from Fethiye harbour, from hour-long rides to weekend getaways. About 15km south of Fethiye itself lies one of Turkey’s most beautiful and popular beaches, Ölüdeniz. Its waters are incredibly warm through summer, and conditions are perfect for snorkelling, parasailing, paragliding, canoeing and more. Check out the town centre too for some wonderful eateries and excellent food shopping at Fethiye’s Tuesday Farmer’s Market and daily fish market.

Driving Around Fethiye
Fethiye has direct connections to many cities in the country including Marmaris, Bodrum, Antalya, Izmir, and Istanbul, with the nearest airports being at Antalya and Dalaman. Antalya is about three hours driving and Dalaman about one hour from Fethiye. Get on the coastal D400 highway for links with the north and east, or try the scenic route from Antalya along the D350/E87. Out of Fethiye there’s endless verdant countryside to explore, highly inviting for those who want to get out of the car and hike. Just over the hill behind Fethiye another great place of interest that’s within easy reach is the wonderfully atmospheric ghost town of Kayaköy (or Karmylassos).
